Description
Emerald Harvest Cal-Mag is a calcium and magnesium supplement from California's Emerald Harvest. These two secondary macronutrients play a vital role in plant health, helping to transport other nutrients, lift photosynthesis rates and get the very best from your PK boosters through peak flower.
How it helps
Calcium encourages cell division and strengthens cell walls for sturdier, more resilient growth, while magnesium activates the enzymes that drive growth and sits at the heart of chlorophyll for efficient photosynthesis. When plants run short of either, growth slows and deficiencies start to show: yellowing between the leaf veins points to a lack of magnesium, dark or brown spotting points to calcium, and the plant takes on an overall pale look. Cal-Mag keeps levels topped up so plants make full use of their base feed.
When you need it
It is especially valuable for growers in soft water areas, where the water carries fewer dissolved minerals to begin with. It is just as useful in coco, which naturally releases excess potassium as it breaks down. High potassium, which plants also draw on heavily during bloom, can lock out calcium and magnesium, so a steady supply of Cal-Mag helps keep everything available. It performs well in any medium or system.
How to use
Add Cal-Mag to a filled reservoir at around 1.3ml per litre of nutrient solution, stirring well. Begin once seedlings and cuttings are properly rooted and continue through to around week 6 of a typical flowering cycle. Always add your nutrients to the water one at a time and stir, rather than mixing concentrates together straight from the bottle. Aim for a pH of 5.8 to 6.3 after mixing, and keep water temperatures between 18°C and 21°C.
