Ventilation

Growing plants indoors presents various challenges, especially to the novice gardener or grower of UK hydroponics. One of the most important aspects of growing produce in a grow room or grow tent is ensuring adequate ventilation. Only by supplying your plants with adequate carbon dioxide can you expect them to grow bigger, healthier, and more productive.

Grow Room Ventilation

A grow room is a highly-controlled, enclosed environment that promotes optimum plant growth and development. You can control the temperature, humidity, light, and other factors.

Plants need carbon dioxide, other nutrients, and water to produce energy. They get water and nutrients from the growing media or from fertiliser solutions. Plants get their carbon dioxide from the air.

Unfortunately, CO2 levels inside the grow room can decrease over time. That is why there should be a system that will draw in CO2-rich air from the external environment and into the grow room. A ventilation system provides plants with a sufficient carbon dioxide supply.

Plants also give off oxygen as a photosynthesis by-product. A ventilation system moves oxygen inside the grow room into the external environment, where we can inhale it.

A grow room ventilation system does not only maintain ideal CO2 levels for photosynthesis. It can also assist in more efficient heat management by removing excess heat.

An efficient ventilation system also manages humidity levels in the grow room by removing excess moisture. It forces the roots to absorb more water, and with it, more nutrients.

Ventilation for Modern Grow Rooms

At Eden Horticulture, we strive to give you only the best products to optimise airflow to and from your grow room plants. We partnered with leading hydroponics wholesale companies and hydroponics distribution centres to bring to you the following high-quality ventilation systems and products.

Ventilation Kits

Perfect for hydroponics UK beginners, these are complete systems that you can install in your grow room. The Vortex Acoustic Kit already includes an extraction fan for moving outside air into your grow room. The kit also includes a carbon filter, ducting, and installation hardware.

Climate Control Products

Hydroponics UK experts recommend using the best climate control systems to ensure the most favourable environmental conditions for your plants. These technologies allow for the more efficient management of room temperature, humidity, lighting, ventilation, and carbon dioxide levels. An example of this product is the Vortex Twin Speed Thermostatic Fan Speed Controller.

Extraction Fans

Air extraction fans are an essential component of grow tent ventilation systems. It pushes old air out and draws in fresh air for the plants to use. An example is the Onyx S-Max Fan.

Metal Works and Clamps

These products allow you to connect different ventilation system components and secure them in place. Examples include padded fast clamps, Y-piece, and wall plate.

Carbon Filters

They control odour because they trap odour particles in a porous substrate. Most hydroponics distribution companies recommend installing a carbon filter inside the grow room where your ducting starts. You can check out the Vortex Premium Carbon Filter if you like.

Odour Control

You need odour control products to make your grow tent activities more bearable, such as Ona gels, blocks, and sprays.

Ducting

These flexible tubes convey outside air into the grow tent and vice versa. They can be acoustic ducting or aluminium ducting or a combination of both.
