🎙️1️⃣  Session 01: March – The Growers Forum

We recently hosted the first session of The Growers Forum, and it was great to see stores joining the discussion and contributing openly.

The aim of the forum is simple.
Bring retailers together to talk honestly about the challenges facing our industry and how we can strengthen it moving forward.

What Was Discussed

One topic quickly stood out during the session – Profit margins across hydroponics retail are under significant pressure.

Many stores shared similar experiences of prices being driven down across the market, making it increasingly difficult for retailers to maintain sustainable margins.

The discussion focused on how, as a community, we can begin to stabilise pricing behaviour, rebuild margins, and create a more level playing field for everyone.

When retailers, distributors, and brands work together responsibly, the whole industry benefits.

A key example spoke about during the discussion was the current state of Shogun pricing. We highlighted inconsistencies in how Shogun products are being priced across different channels, and the impact this can have on margin visibility and customer expectations.

As part of the wider conversation, we will be including a Shogun RRP file as a reference resource. Allowing retailers to review suggested pricing benchmarks and make their own decisions.

The discussion focused on how, as a community, we can better understand pricing pressures, support healthier margins, and work towards a more balanced and sustainable retail environment.

When retailers, distributors, and brands engage openly and responsibly, the whole industry benefits.

Open and Constructive Conversation

There were some excellent suggestions raised during the meeting, alongside several important issues that many stores are currently facing.

It was encouraging to see such open conversation and a genuine willingness from participants to help move things in a positive direction.

Next Session

The next Growers Forum meeting will take place on Wednesday April 22nd.

The focus will be on Omega Lighting pricing, along with any ongoing issues affecting retailers.
